Comprehensive multi-hour per day programming:

To provide individuals with a long-term disability, who due to the nature of the injury and their duration off of work, require a multi hour, per day program to adequately prepare them to safely return to the work place.

Program length can vary between 4-12 weeks depending on the severity of the injury and the physical demands of the job to which the individual is returning.

Program will include a bio-mechanical assessment and regular treatment, regional and global conditioning, functional conditioning to develop specific work tolerances, job analysis, 1 on 1 client education regarding stages of tissue healing, principles of hurt versus harm and functional model of recovery as well as functional abilities examinations and aerobic assessments at regular intervals to monitor client's progress on program. Individuals can be assessed by a Physiatrist and/or a Psychologist. A medically monitored return to work program can be coordinated if requested.
Regular reports are generated at four week intervals, summarizing care and progress.

Physical Medicine Assessment

For doctors in the community requiring a physical medicine assessment.

Independent Medical Examination

Thorough physical medicine assessment when trying to clarify diagnosis or determine the reason for prolonged recovery. This is often helpful when the medical history is very complicated and requires deciphering.

Facilitated Collaborative Rehabilitation Assessment

Similar to a multidisciplinary assessment. Patients first go through an intake assessment with the Health Management Specialist, followed by an assessment and functional abilities examination with a physiotherapist and occupational therapist, followed by an examination by Dr. Lesiuk. A report is then prepared and recommendation are made based on the examination findings and the results of the functional testing. This can be helpful in determining whether a person is a candidate for a reconditioning program, or fit to return to work.

Functional Capacity Evaluations

Designed to asses the individual's current functional abilities and to identify any potential restrictions with respect to the specific demands of their duties in the work place. Comprehensive testing takes place over one to two days. Recommendations may be provided to assist in resorting function and to expedite a return to employment.

Functional Abilities Examination

4-5 of the clients critical job demands are functionally tested to establish a baseline for reconditioning or work hardening programs.

Rehabilitation/reconditioning Assessments

When a reconditioning/work hardening program has been recommended, an intake assessment is done with the Health Management Specialist and a physical assessment and functional abilities examination is performed by a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist to establish a baseline. This information is then used to determine the focus of the program, and provides a benchmark for future functional testing results, which helps to determine the clients functional progress throughout the program.
